This is a news article from The Guardian reporting that Kanye’s wife Bianca wore a transparent outfit at the Grammy Awards. There are several aspects of this news page that could be improved to increase readability.
Brevity

- The paragraphs are too long with minimal spacing. Such large chunks of paragraphs are not conducive to online reading, especially when readers are using their mobile phones to read the news, which may reduce the readability and brevity of the article (Figure 2).
Scannability
- The article headline and author’s name are in the same font and font size (Figure 1). Despite the color difference, this can be confusing at first glance. The font size of the author’s name can be reduced and spacing increased to add visual hierarchy.
- The headline of the article lacks clarity, making it difficult for readers to quickly grasp the key points of the event. It also makes it difficult for search engines to recognize keywords. The headline could be changed to, for example, Kanye’s wife Bianca appears at the Grammys in a sheer outfit, which highlights the main characters and the content of the event more than the original headline.
- Adding subheadings could further enhance readability by highlighting key information. For instance, give the first paragraph the subheading Kanye West and Bianca Sensori’s Grammy event.
- Video advertisements affect immersive reading and distract readers. The number of video ads can be reduced or the position of ads on the page can be changed.
