The school starts to settle into a quieter rhythm as early fall sets in. But the flowers still whisper their colours in the cool air and falling leaves.

Camellia hiemalis blooms slowly in a quiet spot near the path. Their deep pink petals are tucked between shiny green leaves. They don’t try to get your attention; they’re just there, steady and soft, like an old friend’s smile. A patch of salvia officinalis sways in the wind not far away. The purple spikes catch the last bit of golden light of the day and seem to hum with peace. Even though they look a little wild, they make students feel calm as they walk by. The spathiphyllum wallisii stands tall in the shade, almost out of sight from view. The dark leaves and soft white flowers make the plant look calm and peaceful. The way it looks makes it seem like it has been watching seasons come and go without caring. Mandevilla laxa plants grow over the planter boxes near the door to the Banking building. They have bright white petals that spread out to greet everyone who goes by. They make us think of how beautiful things are even after summer is over.

And so, as autumn deepens, the flowers stay. They are quiet friends on campus, and each one has its own story to tell.
