Axios’ Trump Tariff Coverage: 3 Major Fixes That Could Improve It

This is a report from Axios on Trump’s latest comment regarding the Ukraine war, published on March 8, 2025. The following are three fixes that could improve this online delivery.

Axios’ report uses no double space between subheadings and texts

Firstly, it is a good idea to have “Why it matters” and “Driving the news” in bold texts as the subheadings. However, there is little difference in font size  between the headings and the main content, which makes it difficult for users to navigate the story and could cause them to miss key information.

Try improving it by:

  •  Increasing the font size of the subheadings,
  • Using double space to create distinct gaps between the subheadings and other texts.

Axios’ report lacks enough supporting sources and might not be interactive with the audience

Secondly, the “Reality check” part lacks more supporting data or resources. Even with two links to the US government official documents, the supporting resources are still seemingly short.

Try improving it by:

  • Using visual elements including charts, infographics, or highlighted quotes
  •  Providing  more details on the claim, including expert opinions.

Lastly, instead of only having sharing buttons, consider adding comment section to the user interface. Encouraging comments is a good way to better interact with the readers.
